1. About these terms
These terms apply between you and TaxRoots Limited, a private company limited by shares registered in Ireland (CRO 828654), registered office Dublin, Ireland [CONFIRM full address]. Before we start any work we will send you an engagement letter confirming the services and the fee. If anything in the engagement letter differs from this page, the engagement letter applies.
2. What we do
- Review your Revenue record for the open tax years (currently 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025) and the credits and reliefs that may apply to you.
- Tell you what we find, including any year where a review might show tax owed, before anything is filed.
- Prepare and file the claims you approve with Revenue and deal with Revenue's questions about them.
- Keep you updated until Revenue issues its Statement of Liability.
We cannot promise a refund or a particular amount. Revenue decides every claim. The scope of work for self-assessed (Form 11) clients, landlords and non-resident clients is [CONFIRM].
3. What you do
- Give us accurate and complete information, and tell us about all your income.
- Keep receipts and records for your claims (for example rent and medical receipts) for six years.
- Approve or reject the claims we propose before we file them.
Under Irish tax law you remain legally responsible for any claim made on your behalf.
4. The agent link and your passwords
To act for you, we send an agent link request through Revenue. You approve it in your own myAccount (MyEnquiries, then "Agent-Client Link"), or by signing Revenue's Form PAYE A1 if you are not registered for myAccount. [CONFIRM Tax Agent Identification Number (TAIN)]
We will never ask for your myAccount or ROS password. You can remove us as your agent in myAccount at any time.
5. Our fee
- Our fee is [FEE %] [+ VAT, CONFIRM] of the refund we secure for you. It is confirmed in writing in your engagement letter before we do any work.
- No refund, no fee. If we do not secure a refund, you pay nothing.
- Revenue pays any refund directly into your own bank account (or by cheque). Refunds can no longer be paid into an agent's account. After Revenue confirms your refund, we send you an invoice for our fee.
- Payment terms: [CONFIRM, e.g. within 14 days by card or bank transfer]. What happens if an invoice is not paid: [CONFIRM].
- What counts as a "refund" for fee purposes (for example in-year credit increases, or a refund reduced by an underpayment in another year): [CONFIRM].
- Any minimum fee, or separate fee for Form 11 or landlord returns: [CONFIRM].
You can always claim credits and reliefs yourself, free of charge, through Revenue's myAccount. See our fees page for a worked example.
6. Your 14-day cooling-off period
Because you engage us online or by phone, you have the right to cancel within 14 days of the day the contract is made, without giving a reason and without charge, under Irish consumer law (the Consumer Rights Act 2022).
- To cancel, email hello@taxrootsirl.com with your name and a short statement that you wish to cancel.
- If you ask us to start work during the 14 days, we will ask you to confirm that request. If you then cancel, you may have to pay a proportionate amount for work already done. If the service is fully performed within the 14 days at your express request, you may lose the right to cancel. [CONFIRM wording with solicitor]
7. Ending the engagement
After the cooling-off period you can end the engagement at any time by telling us in writing and removing us as your agent in myAccount. A fee is due only on refunds already secured from claims we filed before you ended the engagement [CONFIRM]. We may end the engagement if information provided is false or incomplete, or if we can no longer act for you.
8. Our liability
We will carry out the work with reasonable care and skill. We are not responsible for Revenue's decisions or delays, or for losses caused by information you give us that is wrong or incomplete. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or your statutory rights as a consumer. [CONFIRM any liability cap and professional indemnity insurance]
9. Your data
We use your personal data as set out in our privacy notice.
10. Complaints
If something goes wrong, please tell us. Our complaints procedure explains how we handle it and the timescales.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction.
